Trainer Kathleen A Demasi surpasses 1,000th Win

After reconciliation of Kathleen A. Demasi's training record EquiBase shows the northeastern trainer reached her career 1,000th win December 1, 2012 at Penn National with No La Hace in the 5th race.

In the last ten years Ms. Demasi has ranked twice among the Top 100 trainers by wins. She currently is based at Philadelphia Park. A multiple stakes winning trainer with a 25 year career Kathleen's cumulative record stands at 1,010 wins, 942 seconds, 975 thirds with earnings of $19,049,793. Ms. Demasi serves as on of the Trainer Directors at Parx, where she historically has been among the track's leading trainers.

Lucky enough to win with the first horse she saddled, Maryland National at Penn National, Kathleen's stakes winners include Tj's Tuff as Nails and Merry Princess. Kathleen has trained for many prominent owners such as Repole Stable, Robert Levy, Mark Grier and her husband Greg's Pewter Stable. Together Kathleen and Greg have developed many nice young horses in the northeast under the Pewter Stable banner.

A licensed trainer since 1984 Kate’s first winner was the first horse she saddled. She has recorded 760-plus wins, including 2008 stakes winner Tuff Partners, along with multiple stakes winners Tj’s Tuff as Nails and Pennsylvania-bred turf filly of the year Merry Princess. Her main base of operations is Philly Park, but she also stables a string at Monmouth. Additionally, Kate has the honor of serving as trainer director for the Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association at Philadelphia Park.

Manageable numbers of horses and two full-time assistants help Kate maintain the quality of her training program. She is consistently able to bring her horses to their full potential by giving each horse the personal attention they deserve.

Racing

December 31 - Kate DeMasi has forged her way to become a leading conditioner in the Northeast. At year’s end, she ranked eighth in the trainer standings at Philadelphia Park, with over $1.2-million in earnings. Kate’s runners posted 53 wins, 34 seconds, 35 thirds, and a 44% in the money percentage.

June 28 - TUFF PARTNERS, owned by Pewter Stables and trained by Kate DeMasi, went wire-to-wire in the $75,000-added Caught in the Rain Stakes at Philadelphia Park. She has earned more than $218,000.
